Orders for Love
Orders for Love (OFL), is a 501 C3 pending nonprofit developed to help aid war veterans and military personnel transition from active duty back into civilian life. Many returning military personnel and veterans face a myriad of challenges including PTSD, depression, TBI and inactivity.
As of 2011, the United States reflects upon eight years of war in Iraq and a decade of involvement in Afghanistan. Left in the wake of these conflicts are 1.6 million veterans, 21% of whom suffer with a service-connected disability according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. OFL was created with the goal to save shelter dogs and train them to become Service Dogs for Veterans and Soldiers that suffer from service-connected disabilities. Like Guide Dogs for the blind, Psychiatric Service Dogs aid Veterans with mental illnesses, from anxiety disorder, TBI and PTSD.
OFL is continually building a network of the best quality shelters and high quality trainers to service any veteran that seeks our help. All dogs are individually trained to work or perform tasks that mitigate their handler's disability. All military veterans are eligible to apply for our services. OFL will cover all adoption and training costs so there is no cost to the veteran to be a part of the program. Each dog/veteran pair will cost approximately $2500-3000. OFL operates solely from generous donations from supporters and volunteer staffing.
Additionally we can assist in finding proper veterinary services for the dogs. OFL will make sure that each dog/veteran team is equipped with all of the necessities a home would need to accommodate the dog including (but not limited to): crate, dog bed, 1 month food supply of high quality food, leash and collar.
